Manchester United’s squad will not turn on Erik ten Hag.

That’s according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, who claims United’s senior squad are determined to stick by their new manager, even if results begin to go against them.

As it happens, even though the new 2022-23 season is still just a few games in, the Red Devils have started the campaign fairly well but a 6-3 beating against Manchester City is undoubtedly their form’s biggest blemish.

Even though fans will not want to see a repeat of the most recent Manchester derby again anytime soon, there appears to be no risk that ten Hag will become the club’s ‘fall guy’.

“I was being told by people close to the club and the first team that if the players are going to turn on anyone this time, it’s not going to be the manager,” Ornstein told Sky Sports ‘The Overlap‘.

“They’re going to go above and they’re going to throw executives under the bus – I don’t know – but not Ten Hag.”
