Erik ten Hag said he would pick his “best team” tonight, refusing to prioritise the Premier League or Europa League, but changes were always expected to the line-up.
Some might argue that it’s still early days and that Ten Hag doesn’t know best eleven yet. At least tonight we will get to see players who need minutes on the pitch, especially after seeing the team lose 6-3 against Manchester United on Sunday.
David de Gea starts between the posts.
The only change in defence is Victor Lindelof coming in to replace Raphael Varane at centre-back. Diogo Dalot, Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malacia keep their place.
Casemiro gets a start ahead of Scott McTominay, while Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes will be expected to push transitions into the final third.
Cristiano Ronaldo leads the line with support from Anthony Elanga and Jadon Sancho.
Manchester United XI: De Gea, Dalot, Lindelof, Martinez, Malacia; Casemiro, Eriksen, Fernandes; Sancho, Ronaldo, Elanga.
