Roy Keane and Micah Richards had a disagreement over Cristiano Ronaldo and his effect on the Manchester United team.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was an unused substitute during the 6-3 derby defeat on Sunday as Erik ten Hag looked to five other substitutes.
Former Manchester United captain Keane accused the club of showing disrespect towards Ronaldo because they knew he wanted to leave in the summer, but it looks like they’ve decided to keep the Portuguese icon to sit on the bench.
Keane appeared to be irked by Ten Hag’s decision not to play Ronaldo against Manchester City, although Richards challenged the Irishman’s view due his interpretation of how the Dutchman wants his team to play.
Roy Keane and Micah Richards debate over Cristiano Ronaldo
Keane stresses that Ronaldo did not return to United to sit on the bench, but he misses an important point here…
United have had two different managers since Ronaldo came back to the club. The current manager has a clear idea of how he wants his team to play, and it doesn’t look like the Portuguese star fits into that.
“Ohhh here we go,” Keane says sarcastically when Richard mentions how United are trying to play under Ten Hag, but I’m not sure we should be looking to our former captain for advice on management.
Keane: 🗣️'Ronaldo did not come back to sit on the bench'
Micah: 🗣️"But does his style of play suit the way they want to play?" 👀
Keane: 🗣️"𝐎𝐇𝐇𝐇𝐇 𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐖𝐄 𝐆𝐎!"
These two are pure entertainment together 😄🍿 pic.twitter.com/8Y6eeo1MuZ
