Chelsea enter race to sign United linked Jordan Pickford

Reports suggest Chelsea are set to enter the race to sign Jordan Pickford.

The 28-year-old has been linked as a potential replacement for David de Gea at Manchester United, but he has now attracted interest from Chelsea.

According to The Express, Chelsea will consider Pickford amid question marks over Edouard Mendy and his future at Stamford Bridge.

New manager Graham Potter has been now and the end of the season to identify a new first choice keeper if Mendy leaves Chelsea.

With United and Chelsea reportedly keen on a move for Everton and England’s first choice keeper, it looks like a good World Cup in Qatar could set Pickford up for a big move away from Goodison Park.

David de Gea’s uncertain future

De Gea’s Manchester United contract expires at the end of the season.

Although United can extend his deal by an extra year, it is understood that De Gea will discuss his future with Erik ten Hag in the coming weeks. I am intriguing to see how those talks plan out because the Spaniard does not fit the profile of keeper that Ten Hag tends to opt for, and that could be an issue down the line.

The Daily Mail suggests Juventus are interested in signing De Gea as a free agent.

De Gea is one of the highest earners at United and we could be in the market for a new first choice keeper next summer.
