Christian Eriksen, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane have all been nominated for September’s player of the month award.
It has been a good period for Manchester United, with the Red Devils on a four match win streak heading into October’s Manchester derby, and three players have been put up for this month’s award.
Here we analyse the three players: Eriksen, Sancho and Varane – you can vote via Manchester United’s official website
If anyone was in doubt about Christian Eriksen being a hit at United, they have already been proven wrong after multiple man of the match performances. He has played a deep role in midfield as well as rotating with Bruno Fernandes in the no.10 role. He has been the one to dictate the tempo in midfield, which explains why United are no longer losing battles in the middle of the pitch. The Dane has been a huge bonus this season.
How on earth was Sancho overlooked by Gareth Southgate for the English squad? The selfish side of me is happy because the winger has to focus on United instead of a World Cup that interrupts the domestic season. After scoring just 5 goals last season, Sancho already has 3 to his name this term. He cuts in from wide positions and links up with play brilliantly in and around the box. United can have high hopes this season if Sancho continues this form.
My biggest fear going into the international break is Varane getting injured. He has been the most assured defender we’ve seen at United in years and looks to be the perfect partner for Lisandro Martinez, who is unlucky not to be up for this award for a second month running. United have been much better defensively but we need Varane to stay fit.
Stretty News verdict: My vote this month goes to Eriksen. His assists have been sublime.
