Bruno Fernandes explains Man United atmosphere following Liverpool win

Monday night saw Manchester United pull off a superb result at home against rivals Liverpool in the Premier League.

Despite starting the new 2022-23 season with back-to-back defeats, including a four-nil thumping away to Brentford, manager Erik ten Hag finally kicked off his reign with an excellent 2-1 victory over his side’s bitter rivals.

Piling the misery on Jurgen Klopp, who is now winless in his first three games of the season, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford both netted to ensure that all three points would be staying in Manchester.

Ten Hag opted to line up with a similar but different starting 11. Club captain Harry Maguire found himself on the substitute’s bench alongside star striker Cristiano Ronaldo. However, the Dutchman’s tactical tweaking certainly paid off with every single one of United’s starting players enjoying very impressive performances.

One player who failed to get on the scoresheet but did influence the game from start to finish was attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

What has Bruno Fernandes said about Man United’s victory over Liverpool?

Speaking after the game about how the atmosphere is in the dressing room, as well as the role every player, subs included, played, Fernandes lifted the lid on the feel-good environment ten Hag is creating.

“Obviously a great night and a great result, something that we expect,” Fernandes told MUTV, as quoted by MEN.

“To get these three points is massive for us, but now this game is done we have to look forward with this attitude, this passion, this character that we showed today.

“The attitude that we had today, the passion that we showed, the desire to win the game. Not that we didn’t show it before, but I think in the last two games we could have added something more and I think today was the day we showed all of that together.

“It was amazing, from the back to the forward guys it was a great game. We conceded a goal still, which we don’t want, we want David [De Gea] to keep the clean sheets, but in the end, it was about getting three points.

“Even the players who didn’t play today, they did a great job to push all the ones who played today and that is the mindset for the team, that everyone is included, everyone is part of the team, even when they don’t play they have a part to play.”
