Real Madrid expecting Casemiro developments soon as Man Utd offer bumper pay rise

After spending all of Erik ten Hag’s first transfer window trying to convince Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong to join the club, Manchester United seem to have abandoned that move and are instead pursuing a deal to sign Real Madrid star Casemiro.

The Brazil international has three years remaining on his contract at the Spanish giants and despite being settled, has not completely ruled out a move to Old Trafford.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that United had registered their interest in Casemiro but an official proposal had not been put forward to Real Madrid.

Now, it’s being claimed that Real Madrid are expecting developments in this story ‘very soon’. That’s according to Marca, who also say that Casemiro is giving serious consideration to United’s offer.

As per the report, United are offering a sizeable increase in salary, with the 30-year-old poised to almost double his current wages in the Spanish capital over a five-year contract.

Furthermore, it’s claimed that Real Madrid are aware that Casemiro may be approaching the end of his ‘cycle’ at the club but the player is not sure about putting an end to it. As a result, the offer from United is being analysed.

SN’s verdict…
At face value, you would argue that United are being a little too optimistic in trying to sign Casemiro but the latest developments would suggest that this story actually has a leg to stand on.

Casemiro has not immediately rejected the idea of joining United and in truth, he would represent a major upgrade in midfield for Ten Hag.

It must also be said that Casemiro is a completely different type of player to De Jong and the strategy must be questioned. Nevertheless, his arrival would be welcomed by most fans.
