De Jong tells Barcelona dressing room he is open to Manchester United transfer

Manchester United have spent over 10 weeks pushing to sign Frenkie de Jong but they might finally be about to make a breakthrough.

According to Spanish newspaper Sport, the Netherlands international has admitted to the Barcelona dressing room that he could move to Manchester United this summer.

This comes just days after Barcelona fans abused the midfield star as he drove his car past them towards the club’s training centre.

It was reported by many outlets – up until now – now that De Jong preferred a move to Chelsea. Time will tell if that was a mere smokescreen because Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel didn’t mention a midfielder when he said he was looking for additions in defence and attack on Friday.

Meanwhile, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has publicly maintained that De Jong has a future at Camp Nou – but we’ve always told you that you can’t trust everything he says…

De Jong is said to be frustrated with Barcelona’s efforts to force him out, therefore, he hasn’t been in a rush to leave (knowing they want the money from his potential sale).
