(Video) Reliable journalist Andy Mitten weighs in on unedifying De Jong saga

United We Stand editor Andy Mitten has shared his understanding of Frenkie de Jong’s situation at Barcelona.

Even though Mitten is renowned across the world for his coverage around Manchester United, he has built a reputation as a trusted journalist in Barcelona, after spending years living in the city.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Mitten said: “I still think he’ll move.”

De Jong has been strongly linked with a move to United this summer, but the saga has dragged on for over nine weeks, with Chelsea reportedly lurking in the background.

The issue of convincing the player himself to leave Barcelona remains a task.

Mitten says De Jong is happy at Camp Nou but Barcelona has a desire to sell the player.

“I’ve not been given any evidence that Frenkie de Jong wants to join Manchester United,” Mitten added. “Player is happy there. Barcelona wants to sell him. It’s a really unedifying and complex situation. I still think he’ll probably move.

“Barca would love more suitors and I’m sure De Jong won’t put United on top of his list, should he leave Barcelona and go somewhere else. That’s the reality of the situation.”
