Man United facing major problem in Frenkie De Jong deal

Manchester United have one final hurdle to overcome in the race to sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong.

That’s according to a recent report from leading transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who has said that the Red Devils have reached a ‘full agreement’ worth €75m plus add-ons with their European rivals over the possible transferring of De Jong.

Although fans will be pleased to hear that long and drawn-out negotiations between the two clubs have finally resulted in an agreement, there is still one big obstacle for the Red Devils to overcome.

United must now convince the Netherlands international that the right decision is to move to Old Trafford.

That won’t be easy though. Although De Jong knows former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag very well following their time working together in Amsterdam, United, in a competitive sense, are not that appealing.

Failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League will see the 20-time league winners play in the Europa League.

De Jong is understandably hesitant to move to a club in major transition, as well as playing in Europe’s second-tier, so United will probably have to get creative with what they offer the 25-year-old.
