Bruno Fernandes not convinced by rumours linking Ronaldo with United exit

Bruno Fernandes has broken his silence on rumours linking team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo with a move away from Manchester United.

The Portuguese duo have both been on extended holiday breaks following their involvement on international duty at the end of the domestic season.

Ronaldo’s future has been up in the air for the past week or so. First Bayern Munich turned down a proposal from Jorge Mendes, who later discussed a transfer involving Ronaldo with Chelsea owner Todd Boehly, who weren’t interested in moving for the 37-year-old either.

Fernandes spoke on Thursday about how he expects to return for return with Ronaldo like he usually does. He also explained his thought process surrounding the future of such a valuable player.

“From what I talked to him – we’re both on vacation, no one bothers friends on vacation – I hope to meet him on the July 4th to train at United, I’m not expecting more than that,” Fernandes told Portuguese publication Record.

From these comments, we can only assume that Ronaldo has not dropped any hints to his team-mates about leaving Old Trafford.

The centre-forward has one year left on his contract and I think we all expect him to stay until that deal expires.

It would just great another issue for Ten Hag ahead of the season if he was to lose his main goalscorer.

Fernandes adds: “There is nothing more than that, but each one takes care of their future. I don’t believe that the club is willing to lose a valuable player like Cristiano.”
