A lot of Manchester United fans are getting sick and tired of the Frenkie de Jong updates.
We don’t blame you because as editor of a website that covers the media coverage United receive from across the world, there’s a lot of rubbish that gets published about the club.
The non-stop transfer speculation surrounding the club contributes to the frustration fans have every summer, but it’s often been justified by the club’s poor recruitment. At least with De Jong, we know this is a player Ten Hag wants in his team and Ed Woodward is no longer around to stick his nose in.
It sells papers so journalists are scrapping for every piece of minor detail, knowing that even false information will gain them more Twitter followers while it could ultimately tarnish their reputation.
Of course, that’s not the case for all journalists – and this one has been right for some time when it comes to United’s pursuit to sign Frenkie de Jong.
Erik ten Hag will get his man!
Back in May, Florian Plettenberg stated on Twitter that United were doing everything to get De Jong this summer. The club was verifying the financial package at the time.
In a new update from Plettenberg, he says Ten Hag will get his primary target, with De Jong “on verge” to join United. He adds that a deal is not 100% safe right now, but the player could be presented at the weekend…

Moreover, there are plans to present De Jong at Old Trafford which is something that hasn’t been reported in the past.
This sounds like a plea to sell shirts, but I don’t care as long as we complete the signing before the pre-season tour.
