Carragher: Marcus Rashford is not good enough for Manchester United

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher had some harsh words to say about Manchester United star Marcus Rashford at a recent debate.

At the same open mic event, Gary Neville admitted he has fears over Erik ten Hag and believes most United fans are ‘cautiously optimistic’ about the new manager.

Carragher ripped into Rashford by claiming he isn’t good enough for United. I know there will be United fans out there who agree with that statement, but we all know fans who are quick to jump to conclusions.

Nobody is saying Rashford has a good season but I’d like to think he can bounce back from a difficult campaign.

Speaking on the latest episode of The Overlap, Carragher said: “Marcus Rashford is just not quite good enough for Manchester United.

“That’s all it is. That’s it, he’s not quite good enough for Man United. He is at the level of Tottenham or Arsenal.

“He’s not going to win you the league or the Champions League. You’d need the two up front with him to be megastars and he’d be the addition.”

The 24-year-old lost his place in the team this season under Ralf Rangnick when the former interim manager decided to give Anthony Elanga some first team experience.

Moreover, Rashford missed out on the recent England selection, but at least he is able to get away to enjoy himself over the summer in order to come back fully recharged.

Rashford scored just five goals this season and has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford.

We will be hoping he stays to impress under Ten Hag.
