It has been confirmed that Manchester United have missed out on 20-year-old German striker Karim Adeyemi.
Attacking recruits are being widely tipped at United this summer and it makes perfect sense that we would look at the player Borussia Dortmund are trying to sign to replace Erling Haaland, who looks set to join Manchester City at the end of the season (via The Athletic).
According to Fabrizio Romano, who has spoken to Adeyemi’s agent Thomas Soloman, the striker wanted to join Borussia Dortmund more than United.
Soloman said: “We’re now close to complete the deal with Borussia Dortmund. There will be no release clause included into his five year deal.
“Rangnick? Yes, Manchester United wanted to enter the race — but we want BVB.”

Unlike Haaland, Adeyemi won’t have a release clause in his contract at Dortmund after joining from RB Salzburg.
The best young players want to play for Dortmund because they have helped so many raw talents to blossom on the biggest stage in recent years. England international Jude Bellingham is the latest I wish was wearing a United shirt.
Adeyemi will also have the opportunity to prove himself in the Champions League, which would be a struggle if he joined United at the moment.
Hopefully this isn’t a sign of things to come in the transfer window this summer.
The German joins a list of talented players to have snubbed moves to Old Trafford in recent years.
