Predicted Manchester United XI vs Brighton: Absentees in Ronaldo-inspired attack

The Manchester United performance last time out against Brentford was one of the team’s best in months.

Although there is not left to play for with two games remaining, I’m sure fans travelling to Brighton and Crystal Palace would appreciate a follow up of entertaining football before English football takes a break.

Ralf Rangnick will soon move into his consultancy role and he could yet give a damning verdict on some of these players when he speaks to incoming manager Erik ten Hag about the squad.

Here’s a look at the XI he could pick to face the Seagulls.

Manchester United predicted line-up vs Brighton (4-3-3)

David de Gea gets the nod between the posts.

Although I don’t rate either of them as full-backs, Diogo Dalot and Alex Telles will be in the line-up, with Harry Maguire returning to partner Raphael Varane at centre-back.

In midfield we’ll see Scott McTominay and Fred takeover from Nemanja Matic, while Bruno Fernandes will be tasked with pulling the strings in the final third.

Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho have been ruled out for this one, so we’ll see Anthony Elanga join Cristiano Ronaldo in attack. There could be a place for Jesse Lingard too.

SN’s predicted XI: De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Telles; McTominay, Fred, Fernandes; Elanga, Ronaldo, Lingard.
