Real Madrid saved us all from the dreaded all-English Champions League final.

After Liverpool booked their place in the Paris final after beating Villarreal in the semi-final, I initially thought we would be relying on Manchester City to stop them winning it a seventh time, with Jurgen Klopp’s side on a quest to win a quadruple.

Twitter was full of jokes about City crashing out of the Champions League last night as well as some glorious hot takes about Guardiola’s approach in European competition.

Manchester United legends Patrice Evra, Rio Ferdinand and Andy Cole also reacted to the match – with the latter hailing French striker Karim Benzema for his heroics.
