Italian reporter claims Manchester United are preparing a huge offer for Serie A goalscorer

Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla claims Manchester United want Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

Stretty News brought you a report on Tuesday stressing that United would not be held to ransom over Osimhen following suggestions his price tag is worth £100m.

It is clear that the club, with whoever they name as manager in the summer, will be in the lookout for a goalscorer since Edinson Cavani’s contract expires and Cristiano Ronaldo has just one year left on his deal.

Moreover, the Manchester Evening News claim that Ralf Rangnick’s patience is ‘wearing thin’ with Ronaldo with the Portuguese star going through a difficult spell – managing one goal in his last 10 games.

Osimhen cost Napoli a club-record £70m from Lille in 2020 so there is no way the Italian side will let the Nigeria international leave on the cheap. After all, he is the most expensive African footballer in history.

The 23-year-old has scored 11 goals in 22 appearances for Napoli this season.

Speaking to FC Inter 1908, Pedulla said: “It’s true. Napoli have enquired about Gianluca Scamacca, and according to our reconstructions, it would be an attempt linked to a possible pharaonic proposal for Victor Osimhen next summer.

“The proposal could be that of Manchester United. The voices of recent days are coupled with what his brother declared some time ago when he spoke of a courtship from the Red Devils.

“He chose not to join because there was another Nigerian there at the time (Odion Ighalo) and Osimhen didn’t want to compete.”

Is Osimhen everyone’s alternative to Erling Haaland? Time will tell when the summer transfer window opens.
