Manchester United are not interested in signing River Plate striker Julian Alvarez.
That is according to The Times, who claim United were offered the chance to sign the striker who has won five Argentina caps to his name, but they declined.
The report suggests Alvarez is attracting strong interest from rivals Man City, but across Europe too – with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Bayern Munich all keen to sign the top scorer in the Argentine top-flight last year (20 goals in 35 games).
It is noted that City do not view Alvarez as an alternative to their prime target, Borussia Dortmund goal machine Erling Haaland, and should the Argentine join the Berties, he is likely to move to another European club on loan for the remainder of the season.
While we expect United to be in the market for a forward this summer, I reckon the club will be looking for a striker with a track record of scoring goals in Europe, whereas City see him as a young player who can develop his game in England.
That’s not something United should be in the market for because we’ve already got Mason Greenwood and Anthony Elanga.
Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial are unlikely to be on our books next season.
Man utd is the best in world
Not signing Alvarez is a mistake that will come back to haunt us. Unbelievable talent, that’s why Man City are going after him. Our board needs a revamp. Geriatric old men out of touch with reality. They are clinging to an era that’s long gone.
UTD JUST DON’T MOVE WITH THE TIMES STUCK IN AN ERA THAT IS LONG GONE
