(Video) Alvaro Fernandez shows Harry Maguire what United’s first team is missing v Villarreal youths

Manchester United’s U19s played host to Spanish opponents Villarreal at Leigh Sports Village on Wednesday afternoon in the UEFA Youth League.

This young United side got their campaign off to a strong start, unlike the first team, as they defeated Young Boys 1-0 earlier this month. It wasn’t to be for the lads today as they lost 4-1.

Shola Shoretire captained the side but he was unable to do anything to turn the game in our favour.

However, Alvaro Fernandez scored a late header to reduce Villarreal’s winning margin to three goals, which is still considered a heavy beating.

The goal shows something we have not seen in the first team for some time, and Harry Maguire was in attendance (as per Manchester Evening News) to take note sat alongside football director John Murtough.
