Manchester United have made contact to sign Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele, according to reports.
Spanish outlet El Nacional report (cited by the Manchester Evening News) that contact with the France international has started, expressing a desire to bring him to Old Trafford, but it doesn’t quite stack up when you take into account what the team needs.
Dembele would be an odd signing even on a free transfer.
What’s more is the ongoing mess at Barcelona, with former president Josep Maria Bartomeu having a lot to answer for.
Things got so bad at Barcelona that both Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann have had to leave the club, and on the pitch they have been poor under Ronald Koeman.
Dembele has struggled with his fitness and it doesn’t sound like a signing United will need to make next summer. On top of that, we’ve got Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood.
