Manchester United dealt blow as Jadon Sancho sustains training injury

Manchester United have been dealt a small injury blow as Jadon Sancho has been classed as a doubt for England as they prepare for their first World Cup qualifier of the season.

The 21-year-old is one of three Manchester United players to retain their place from the Euro 2020 squad, with Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw also included in this month’s camp.

England face Hungary tomorrow but United winger Sancho is now doubtful for the game, with England manager Gareth Southgate confirming a ‘small knock’ in this morning’s training session.

“We’ve got a small knock with Sancho this morning,” Southgate said in his pre-match press conference, as seen above. “So we’re going to assess him. Everyone else is fit for the game.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping for a quick recovery from the former Borussia Dortmund man, having already been resigned to losing Marcus Rashford for a large chunk of the season.

Daniel James left the club for Leeds on deadline day and questions remain over Anthony Martial’s fitness, despite the 25-year-old featuring in all three games so far this season.
