Manchester United have added to their squad handsomely this summer by bringing in long-term target Jadon Sancho before securing a mouthwatering deal to sign Raphael Varane just weeks later.

The pair, who were the club’s second and third signing of the summer respectively, are part of Manchester United’s best summer transfer window in modern history but according to reports, it’s likely that no more incomings are expected before the window shuts later this month.

That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, which claims that any more signings before the deadline on August 31 is ‘unlikely’.

It’s reported that the club has explored the possibilities of signing a second centre-back (in addition to Varane), a full-back, and a midfielder but failure to move fringe players on is proving costly as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already has a bloated squad on his hands.

A loss in revenue due to the COVID-19 pandemic is also cited as a cause whilst West Ham are still hoping to sign Jesse Lingard despite United’s £25m price tag.
