Bruno Fernandes sees bright future for Anthony Elanga and ‘Jimmy’ Garner

Bruno Fernandes has picked out two Manchester United youngsters he expects to make an impression in the first team.

Anthony Elanga and James Garner have caught the Portuguese Magnifico’s eye in pre-season.

Elanga scored against Queens Park Rangers and Brentford, while 20-year-old Garner returned from a loan spell at Nottingham Forest.

Fernandes is impressed with both players and can see a path for them into the first team.

In an interview with club media (ManUtd.com), Fernandes was asked which young talents have impressed him at United. He said: “I think we know some of them already.

“Jimmy [James] Garner, I think is a really good player, I really like him and the way he kicks the ball. He’s really aggressive off the ball too.

“Elanga was already playing with us and this pre-season he has been brilliant. He’s a nice kid, works hard and is really humble and I think he’s deserving of everything that’s happened to him.

“I see a brilliant future for him and Jimmy too, and also for all the other kids.”

Both players could end up going on loan next season, but Elanga’s goalscoring spree during pre-season may influence the manager to keep another striker on the books.

Especially with Marcus Rashford out due to a shoulder operation.

Elanga missed United’s training camp in Scotland with a minor injury.
