(Video) Harry Maguire ranked as best performer in Italy and England combined XI

Harry Maguire and Giorgio Chiellini are set to face off in perhaps the closest thing to a heavyweight battle as the pair prepare for this evening’s Euro 2020 final. Both defenders have enjoyed exceptional tournaments with only one game remaining to cement their place in history.

For Maguire, his involvement in the tournament was in doubt a month ago. The 28-year-old suffered ankle ligament damage during Manchester United’s run-in but recovered in time to feature in England’s final group game.

Since then, Maguire has excelled as Gareth Southgate’s trusted lieutenant and is even being tipped by many to be crowned ‘player of the tournament’ if England win on Sunday.

Chiellini had his campaign disrupted after suffering an injury in their opening game but the Juventus defender eased fears when he returned later in the competition. At 36, the veteran centre-back is still defying the odds.

Statistical website WhoScored have compared the two ahead of the final, as seen above, with only Maguire making it into their combined Italy and England team. At a rating of 7.76, Maguire has been ranked as the best performer out of any player from the two teams featured in the combined side.
