How much money Man Utd saved by waiting a year to sign Jadon Sancho

Manchester United are set to complete a deal to sign Jadon Sancho this summer after the club reached a full agreement with Borussia Dortmund over his transfer, according to BILD.

The German publication claims that the club will pay €85m for Sancho’s services, with potentially another €10m based on add-ons and clauses.

Manchester United came close to signing the winger last year but failed to match Dortmund’s valuation, choosing to abandon a deal instead.

The club revived their interest this summer and are now reportedly set to save a fortune on the player, having been cited a €120m price tag by Dortmund 12 months ago, also according to BILD.

If reports are to be believed, the 12-month wait for a transfer means that Manchester United will initially pay €35m less than the fee Dortmund demanded in 2020.

It would justify Manchester United’s willingness to get a deal done this time around, as well as their cautious approach last summer. Should the add-ons and clauses be paid in full, the deal would total at €25m less than the €120m fee set in 2020.

  1. Yes, but they could have gained more than that had he joined. They could have won the league, possibly progressed further in the Champions league or may have won the europa league.
