Manchester United have opening €45m bid rejected for Jules Koundé

Manchester United have had an opening bid for Jules Koundé rejected, according to reports. The defender is hot property this summer and has been linked with several of Europe’s elite clubs, including Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to be looking for a long-term partner to Harry Maguire, with France teammate Raphael Varane also believed to be on his list of targets.

According to Duncan Castles of the Transfer Window Podcast, formal talks with Sevilla over a move have begun between the two clubs and an opening bid has reportedly been launched.

Despite being close to sealing a €93m deal for Jadon Sancho, the report claims that the Old Trafford hierarchy have launched a €45m offer for Koundé, which would take the club’s spending to €137m on just two players.

It’s claimed that the bid was rejected by Sevilla – Koundé made his senior debut for France in their 2-2 draw with Portugal earlier this week and a starting berth for his national side could increase his transfer value.
