Manchester United confirm pre-season fixtures, including clash v Wayne Rooney’s Derby County

Manchester United will host two matches at Old Trafford before the start of the 2021-22 campaign, with no plans to travel abroad announced yet.

All of United’s pre-season matches will be played in England before the Red Devils kick start their Premier League campaign, after finishing runners-up last term, with Leeds visiting Old Trafford on Saturday, August 14.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will face Wayne Rooney’s Derby County, QPR, Brentford and Everton as they prepare for the new season.

It all starts on Sunday, July 18 (1pm KO), against Derby at Pride Park.

Collette Roche, United’s chief operating officer, said (via ManUtd.com): “This year’s pre-season schedule has been planned with the current travel restrictions in mind, whilst providing Ole and the players with the best possible preparations for the new season.

“Playing two pre-season matches at Old Trafford will also give us another opportunity to welcome fans back safely into the stadium ahead of the new Premier League season.”

The players are scheduled to return to Carrington for pre-season training in early July, with the first match set for a week after the Euro 2020 final is played.

Next up is QPR at the Kiyan Price Foundation Stadium on Saturday, July 24 (3pm).

Then it’s back to Old Trafford for the two features against Premier League opposition. Newcomers Brighton come to the Theatre of Dreams on Wednesday, July 28 (8pm) before the lads face Everton on Saturday, August 7 (5pm).
