Talk of Arsenal showing an interest in Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek is total crap – as expected.
Rumours stemmed from a 90min claim the Gunner already ‘made contact with Manchester United’ over a potential move for Van de Beek.
The Dutchman didn’t have a very good first season at Manchester United and misses out on EURO2020 due to an injury sustained during preparations with the Netherlands squad. He started just 15 games under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last term, with Bruno Fernandes the clear first choice in the No.10 role and Scott McTominay, Fred and Paul Pogba all preferred in the double pivot.
I would still hope Van de Beek can turn things around at Old Trafford because it is clear from the glimpses we’ve seen this season that he is a technically gifted footballer.
It remains to be seen whether he can fit into the system Solskjaer wants to play, and right now I feel our midfield requires some work to get to where we need to be – challenging for the Premier League title.
Reliable football journalist Fabrizio Romano has ultimately quenched claims Van de Beek could end up at the Emirates this summer, tweeting: “There are no talks between Arsenal, Manchester United or player agents for Donny van de Beek.”

Arsenal will sign a new midfielder, for sure – but there’s nothing going on for van de Beek as of today. There are other names in the list as priorities. #AFC
