Man United and Chelsea put on alert as PSG make contact with top target valued at €60m

Manchester United have been put alert amid reports that Paris Saint-Germain have made contact with Real Madrid over Raphael Varane. Solskjaer is thought to be an admirer of the France international and the club are reportedly growing in confidence that an agreement with Real Madrid can be reached.

The 27-year-old has just one more year remaining on his contract in the Spanish capital, and with talks over an extension not appearing to moving towards a resolution, a move away from the club is appearing to be a possibility this summer.

According to Foot Mercato, Paris Saint-Germain have made contact with Raphael Varane’s representatives in an attempt to ‘understand their stance’. The publication claims that the Parisians are interested in the defender this summer and should they decide to pursue a deal, formal negotiations with Real Madrid will begin.

It is also reported that Mauricio Pochettino’s side will face competition from both Manchester United and Chelsea, as Solskjaer and Tuchel lobby for defensive reinforcements this summer. Real Madrid value the player at a whopping €60m this summer, despite the prospect of losing him on a free transfer in 12 months.

According to the report, Varane is considering his future at Real Madrid after a decade at the club. Manchester United came close to signing the defender 10 years ago but narrowly missed out.
