Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has been dealt a huge blow after being ruled out of this summer’s European Championship through injury.
That’s according to the BBC, who have reported that the Dutch midfielder will not be able to play a part in his country’s Euros campaign.
Van de Beek, 24, endured a tough debut season at United, echoed by the fact he only started just four Premier League matches under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
However, this summer’s major international tournament had offered the young midfielder a vital platform to reignite his career and show his club manager exactly what he’s capable of.
Sadly though, that won’t be the case after the player has picked up an injury – ruling him out of the competition altogether.
The Netherlands’ Euros campaign is set to kick off against Ukraine on Sunday evening (8pm UK time).
Head coach Frank de Boer has not yet replaced the midfielder in his squad, with more details expected to emerge in the coming hours.
