‘The stand-out player’ – Wan-Bissaka explains his vote for United’s best player

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has revealed who he voted for as Manchester United’s Player of the Year award after a successful campaign for himself personally. The defender made big strides in the 2020/21 season but was modest enough to hand his valuable vote to a teammate.

Bruno Fernandes won the vote for Fans Player of the Year but Luke Shaw took home the other prize, where his fellow teammates were the deciding voters and Wan-Bissaka has now revealed that he voted for his full-back compatriot.

“I gave mine [awards vote] to Luke but I think Bruno is up there as well. Luke has been the stand-out for me,” he told ManUtd.com. “His performances, that pushes me as well, to compete with him to get the best out of all of us.

“He’s been positive throughout, making the most out of every game. He’s not taken his foot off the pedal, he’s kept going, pushed himself until the whistle goes. That’s good. He helps the team as well.”

Luke Shaw’s resurgence is one of the comeback stories of the season and although Wan-Bissaka has kept a steady trajectory at United since he arrived, Solskjær could be about to take his game to another level with signing Kieran Trippier.

United are interested in Trippier and it could have a similar Telles-like effect on Wan-Bissaka. Trippier is believed to relish a return to the Premier League and could prove to be neat business by United, should they get a deal over the line.
