Man United loanee set for summer return after failing to impress

Manchester United’s on-loan full-back Diogo Dalot is reportedly set to return to Old Trafford once his season-long spell with AC Milan ends in the summer.

The Portuguese full-back was originally signed from FC Porto by former manager Jose Mourinho in 2018.

Despite being hotly tipped to become one of England’s most exciting attacking full-backs, Dalot’s time in Manchester has failed to live up to it’s earlier hype.

Following the appointment of current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Dalot has seen his playing-time heavily restricted.

After being named in just 29 of Solskjaer’s matches, Dalot was allowed to join AC Milan on a season-long loan during last summer’s transfer window.

In an attempt to kick-start his stagnating development, Dalot teamed up with Stefano Pioli at AC Milan and has helped launch their audacious title challenge.

However, in what is being viewed as an average spell, Dalot’s long-term future continues to be speculated.

According to a recent written report from Gazzetta dello Sport (as relayed by Sports Witness), Dalot is one of three on-loan Rossoneri players set to return to their parent clubs in the summer.

The outlet claim AC Milan are only interested in sealing the permanent transfer of Chelsea’s on-loan defender Fikayo Tomori, and will therefore not be taking up the option to sign Soualiho Meite, Brahim Diaz or Dalot.
