Manchester United defender Luke Shaw is set to learn whether or not the FA will ban him following his recent claims against referee Stuart Attwell.
Sunday’s Premier League match against Chelsea saw both giants play out a boring 0-0 draw.
However, in what was a largely disappointing encounter, the game’s biggest talking points came after Shaw shockingly claimed his side were denied a penalty after Attwell said awarding one would be too controversial.
Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi was clearly seen handling the ball inside of his own area and despite checking the VAR pitchside monitor, Attwell opted against pointing to the spot.
Speaking after the game, Shaw told reporters that he had overheard Attwell telling club captain Harry Maguire that the reason he didn’t give a spot-kick was that it would generate too much negative attention.
Despite the English defender’s shocking claims, senior Red Devils’ officials reportedly remain adamant Shaw misinterpreted the pair’s conversation.
However, following the Englishman’s public claims, according to a recent report from the Daily Mail, Shaw could be handed a lengthy ban for breaking FA regulations.
Rule E3(1) of the FA’s regulations state that should any player ‘imply bias or attack the integrity of match officials they can be handed a misconduct charge.
The Daily Mail claim that a decision is likely to be made later on Monday.
