Cavani & Van de Beek still out: Manchester United team news v Real Sociedad

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he will have the same squad to face Real Sociedad that he had against Newcastle at the weekend. That means we’ll be without Edinson Cavani and Donny van de Beek again.

The only real news surrounding a player missing out sits with youngster Hannibal Mejbri, who is set to miss a month of football after sustaining an injury.

Tomorrow night gives the manager a really good opportunity to experiment with his side and to throw some of the academy lads in.

“Hannibal is injured unfortunately – so he’ll be out for a month,” Solskjaer told reporters, as quoted by the MEN. “Amad and Shola they will be involved, they are in the squad. I won’t be saying if they start or not!”

Solskjaer was then asked to give an update on injuries suffered by Donny van de Beek and Edinson Cavani, which kept both players out of the first leg and Sunday’s 3-1 victory over Newcastle.

“No. They are still out,” Solskjaer added. “Still not trained enough, more or less same squad vs Newcastle.”

It would be better tomorrow night if we could set the tone for the game.

An early goal would take any potential spark out of Real Sociedad and make sure straight forward sailing into the next round.

The last time we want is to be heading into the second half thinking it could be one of those nights.

Hardly… Sociedad would need a scoreline like 5-0 to progress tomorrow night. Surely the tie is buried.
