The spark of our midfield is without question the biggest reason United look far better than what they did two years ago. He joined in January of 2020 and instantly became the team’s tallisman.

It amounts to little as a chipped pass from Scott McTominay sees a ball for Fernandes run out of play, but the Portugal international managed to score two goals on the night against Real Sociedad as United won the first-leg 4-0 in Turin.
Although we can be happy with both the result and performance, this is another example of how reckless United were against their Spanish opponents and could’ve won by a greater margin.
Let’s hope Fernandes plays to the same high standard on Sunday versus Newcastle.
