Manchester United name three January player of month candidates

Manchester United have announced the three nominees for their January Player of the Month award.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have played nine games in total in the first month of the year, with standout Premier League victories over Aston Villa, Fulham and Burnley and an FA Cup fourth round triumph over Liverpool.

Paul Pogba, Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire have all been selected as possible winners for the monthly award that was last won by talisman Bruno Fernandes.

Captain Maguire has improved in recent weeks and his most impressive performance came as Liverpool drew a blank in the goalless draw at Anfield.

Luke Shaw has earned huge plaudits for his consistency both offensively and defensively at left-back and it is unsurprising that he is being considered.

The 25-year-old is surely playing himself into England contention with his best form in years.

Meanwhile, Paul Pogba has regained his spot as a first-team regular in Solskjaer’s plans and provided two special match-winning moments with goals away to Fulham and Burnley.

As per Man Utd.com, United fans can vote via United’s official app. Voting closes on Tuesday 2 February and the winner will be announced before the Premier League fixture against Southampton at Old Trafford.
