Manchester United draw Liverpool and learn possible fifth round FA Cup opponents

Manchester United have been drawn against their Premier League title challengers Liverpool in the FA Cup fourth round.

United are level on points with their oldest domestic rivals in the league and have been rewarded for their third round victory over Watford with a home tie against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men will now play Liverpool on successive weekends with the game to be played on the weekend of January 23.

United will travel to Anfield on Sunday top of the league if they avoid defeat to Burnley at Turf Moor on Tuesday night.

Solskjaer may have wanted to rotate his side at this stage of the competition with priority on the league but we expect the Reds at full strength in this one.

In unusual fashion, the FA Cup fifth round draw has also been completed with United to face Stockport County, West Ham or Doncaster if they overcome Liverpool.

The outcome of the Stockport County and West Ham tie will be decided this evening at Edgeley Park.
