It’s early days but Gary Neville can’t contain his excitement at seeing Manchester United joint top in the Premier League.
Gary Neville loves winding up the Scousers, even if he risks having egg on his face because it would be bold to suggest Manchester United will end up Premier League champions this season.
We’ve turned our season around after the Champions League exit – and the teams around us have us to climb up the table into a more respectable position.
So, to celebrate going joint top of the league after beating Aston Villa 2-1 at Old Trafford, Neville decided to pop open a bottle of champaign.

Liverpool play again on Monday night — at home to Southampton — but then United will have a game in-hand against Burnley on January 12.
The Scousers are still favourites to defend the title and we’re not going to get ahead of ourselves this early, but it is amusing to see Neville wind up their supporters on Twitter, as seen below:
Nope. More worried about the blue half of Manchester coming good. Red half will be calling for Ole’s head again in a few weeks. Enjoy the ride with the big boys 😎

Come a bit closer Gary & listen to this.THUD. That’s you inflated ego along with your teams short lived stay at the top of the premiership hitting the dirt after we take you apart. Welcome to second place for only a brief time & see you at Anfield on Thursday. We’re waiting. YNWA

It’s not joint top, it’s called second. You don’t have joint winners of the league…
