Juventus step up transfer pursuit of AC Milan midfielder linked to Manchester United

during the Serie A match between AC Milan and Hellas Verona FC at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on November 8, 2020 in Milan, Italy.

Serie A champions Juventus are reportedly close to the signing of AC Milan playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu, who has recently been linked to Manchester United.

Calhanoglu, 26, joined AC Milan in 2017 from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen and he could now be en route to Italy’s biggest club and current champions.

The talented Turk has featured in 140 matches for AC Milan and has obviously done enough to warrant interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

However, the United links always struck me as strange and probably a result of an agent trying to increase interest in his client.

According to German journalist Christian Falk, United are among the clubs interested in signing Calhanoglu. But do we not have enough midfielders who can play that role as it is?

Falk’s claims were later dismissed by a report from The Athletic, which we are more inclined to believe, who claimed the noise surrounding United’s interest was nothing more than agent talk.

Calcio Mercato report that talks between representatives have progressed, with Juventus in the hunt for Calhanoglu.

Calhanoglu’s contact runs out in six-months time.
