With just four days left in this summer’s transfer window Manchester United are reportedly doing all they can to convince Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele to come to Old Trafford.
Dembele, 23, joined Barcelona in 2017 for an eye-watering £117m (TransferMarkt) off the back of a superb season with Borussia Dortmund which saw him be directly involved in 32 goals in 50 appearances in all competitions.
Despite Dembele’s hefty price-tag the Frenchman has struggled since joining the Catalonian giants and after a series of injuries the World Cup winning attacker has managed to feature just 75 times in three-years.
Recent reports emerged from leading journalist Fabrizio Romano which suggested that Premier League greats United were seriously considering offering Dembele a way out of his Barcelona nightmare as the Reds eye alternatives to number-one target Jadon Sancho.
More to be clear.
– People around Sancho confirm that #MUFC have not made yet an official bid but they were ready to… and that €90m won’t be accepted.
– Démbélé is not an advanced deal and Man Utd only consider a loan.🔴📲 Depay, Alex Telles and more: https://t.co/I5RqEZODqs

However, with just four days left in this summer’s transfer window any potential incoming is going to have to be finalised soon and the latest update in the ongoing Dembele-saga does not make for pleasant reading for United fans.
Again, according to Romano, the Reds are currently doing all they can to convince Barcelona’s winger to come to Old Trafford before Monday’s deadline.
Romano claims that Dembele rejected United’s approach for him two weeks ago with Barcelona preferring a permanent deal and the United hierarchy seeking a loan move instead.
Confirmed. Ousmane Démbélé always said ‘no’ to any loan or permanent bid on this summer, also to Manchester United two weeks ago.
Now #MUFC are pushing to convince Ousmane and talking with Barça offering a loan [and Barça were asking for permanent deal]. 🔴 #FCB https://t.co/BEngWMtvfu— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) October 1, 2020
After ending last season on such a high, optimism was at the forefront of every United fan’s mind.
However, somehow, here we ago just 96-hours away from the window slamming shut with just one squad addition and begging a Barca flop to join us whilst number-one target Sancho is feigning illness in Germany.
What a disaster.
