Brighton 2-3 Man United: A day to forget for Paul Pogba as stats make grim reading

Paul Pogba’s stats from Saturday’s 3-2 win over Brighton make for grim reading.

The Frenchman is seen as a superstar — one of the biggest footballers in the world — but has been bullied in games this season against Crystal Palace and Brighton.

For someone who has a World Cup medal in his pocket, that is some downfall and probably the reason behind reports of Pogba suddenly keen on a new contract at Manchester United. He knows Real Madrid won’t be interested in an underperforming marketing tool.

As per Squawka Football, Pogba failed to create a chance, produce a shot, make a tackle or interception during his time on the pitch against Brighton. He also had the lowest pass accuracy of any United player (71%).

Although Squawka claim it was a day to forget for Pogba, it was a day added to a list of many.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hauled Pogba off in both league games this season because he hasn’t been good enough — and maybe it’s down to fitness but there’s a new man in town standing on his toes.

Donny van de Beek signed for United this summer in a £35m deal from Ajax (via BBC Sport).

The Netherlands international should start next week’s league clash against José Mourinho’s Tottenham, and Pogba should miss out.

Our new exciting signing deserves a chance and Pogba is nothing short of a liability at the moment.
