Manchester United are convinced they can complete a deal for FC Porto left-back Alex Telles, Fabrizio Romano has revealed on his latest transfer podcast.
United desperately need reinforcements with under two weeks of the transfer window remaining and left-back has been highlighted as a key area that needs addressing.
And reputable journalist Romano has confirmed that United have been exploring different possibilities as they look to find further competition for Luke Shaw.
United’s interest in signing Spanish left-back Sergio Reguilon before his switch to Tottenham Hotspur was well documented and Romano notes that he was one of the players drawn up in the club’s three-man shortlist for the position.
Speaking on his new ‘Here we go’ podcast, as quoted by Utdreport, Romano claims United have made their intentions clear that they are going to try and sign Telles before the October 5 transfer deadline.
Telles is an exciting attacking left-back who has established himself as one of the best players in the Portuguese league during his four years at FC Porto.
The arrival of the Brazilian at Old Trafford would allow Solskjaer further flexibility to play a dangerous five-at-the-back attacking set-up with Luke Shaw at left centre-back and Telles pressing further forward.
Romano’s latest update on Telles coincides with reports coming out of Portugal that Telles has already agreed personal terms with United.
According to Correio da Manha, Telles could sign a a five-year-deal at Old Trafford, but there is not yet a full agreement between the two clubs.
Fabrizio Romano: "#mufc had a list with three names for left-back. The first one with Alex Telles was Sergio Reguilón, who joined Tottenham. There is also another option. I will say the name if United go for him and no longer on Alex Telles." #mulive [@podcastherewego]
