Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho wants reunion with Jesse Lingard

Tottenham are interested in signing Jesse Lingard from Manchester United, according to ESPN.

José Mourinho is said to be keen on a reunion with Lingard, who played a role during his spell in charge at Old Trafford, and has asked Daniel Levy to explore the possibility of bringing him to London.

We certainly wouldn’t oppose the idea of selling Lingard this summer. After signing Donny van de Beek from Ajax, a much better footballer who operates similarly to Lingard, selling the Englishman could free up some wage money for more arrivals.

The ESPN report goes as far to claim that discussions between intermediaries are underway.

Lingard has slipped down the pecking order under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and he will find it very difficult to get back into the manager’s plans.

United’s midfield, on paper at least, is getting better by the year. The same can’t be said for Lingard.

Another important side note from the report is Tottenham’s potential move for Lingard may be dependent on finding a buyer for Dele Alli.
