Five Manchester United players make WhoScored’s Europa League team of the quarter-finals

A 1-0 win over FC Copenhagen guided Manchester United into the Europa League final four, though it was tougher than many anticipated and the Reds were brought to extra time before scoring the opening and only goal through Bruno Fernandes from the penalty spot.

There was still several Manchester United players who impressed, with five faces included in the WhoScored Europa League team of the quarter-finals.

With four matches to select from, it’s Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men who dominate this best XI.

Nobody will be surprised to see FC Copenhagen goalkeeper Karl-Johan Johnsson between the sticks because he had the game of his life in Cologne on Monday evening.

Defence

Harry Maguire hardly put a foot wrong against FC Copenhagen during 120 minutes. He helped set the tone for what was a professional display where United got in and out with a place in the semi-finals.

As for young Brandon Williams, he was superb! He showed his fighting instincts which is something the United team has lacked for years.

Midfield

It’s our classy midfield duo, Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba in the mix, surrounded by Shakhtar Donetsk players on either flank (Marlos & Taison).

Pogba controlled the midfield on the night and it was Fernandes’ penalty that made the difference. Both players bring lots of creativity to the table.

Attack

Anthony Martial was the star of the show against FC Copenhagen, so it’s no surprise to see him mentioned in WhoScored’s team of the quarter-finals. His solo runs into the box made it very difficult for our friends from Denmark.
