Borussia Dortmund stars play with idea Jadon Sancho is staying put

It’s like something you’d see Barcelona players do when the Catalan club were trying to re-sign Cesc Fabregas from Arsenal (timeline of that saga courtesy of Arsenal Report).

Borussia Dortmund stars Mats Hummels and Axel Witsel have responded to the news that Jadon Sancho was staying at the Westfalenstadion amid heavy speculation that the winger was on his way to Manchester United, as per BILD.

When you consider how long United have been linked with Sancho, it’s pretty poor that the saga has turned into a circus show with talks still ongoing. Will this be another deal that takes the Reds an entire transfer window to conduct, like Harry Maguire last summer?

BVB sporting director Michael Zorc thew a spanner in the works yesterday, quoted by the Manchester Evening News as stating: “We plan with Jadon Sancho. He’ll play for us next season. The decision is final. I think that answers all of the questions.”

Zorc’s comments were also tweeted by the official Borussia Dortmund Twitter account.

The BVB players have shown their delight at this development, with Hummels responding to the news, as quoted by GOAL: “He can be the player who makes the difference. I’m happy that he is staying.”

Witsel also got involved to say he is happy to hear Sancho is staying, as seen in the video below, as per Sky Sports (Football Daily Twitter account):

Only time will tell if United can get a deal done this summer for Sancho.
