I think it would be fair to say Bruno Fernandes is Manchester United’s designated penalty taker.
The Portuguese Magnifico hit home from the spot on Monday night in extra-time as the Reds booked their place in the Europa League semi-finals.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was quick to credit Fernandes for his penalty taking ability and said he’s better at taking spot kicks than he was as a professional footballer.
Speaking to BT Sport, Solskjaer said: “Bruno has penalties sorted, better than I was anyway!”
United made hard work of the tie but Solskjaer was correct in saying they were a well organised side who made it difficult at times. On top of that, we had some offside goals and forced their goalkeeper into a number of big saves.
Solskjaer praised the FC Copenhagen goalkeeper’s performance, adding: “Their keeper was fantastic, actually, incredible.”
