Victor Osimhen had phone call with Solskjaer before joining Napoli

Striker Victor Osimhen made the switch from French side Lille to Italian giants Napoli yesterday after impressing in a campaign which saw him net 13 domestic goals in just 25 starts.

Osimhen’s transfer to Napoli sees him become football’s most expensive Nigerian striker after his reported €81.3m transfer, as per French outlet L’Equipe.

Osimhen is widely regarded as one of football’s hottest prospects, at the tender age of just 21, Osimhen has been tipped to reach the very top.

However, a shock revelation has revealed that Premier League clubs Manchester United and Liverpool were both seriously considering attempting to  bring the powerful striker to England.

Even more alarmingly for the United faithful, it has been suggested by RMC Sport (translated by Get Football) that prior to his record breaking move to Italy, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer held a phone call with Osimhen.

It is understood that despite Solskjaer’s best efforts to convince Osimhen to join United the Norwegian was unsuccessful and will perhaps need to work on his persuasive skills as all attentions now turn to Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.

Never mind United fans; everything happens for a reason, as they say.
