Why Man United could be forced to wait until next summer to sign Jadon Sancho

Manchester United may be forced to wait another 12 months before they can complete the signing of long-term target Jadon Sancho due to the amount Borussia Dortmund are demanding for the 20-year-old.

Sancho has been one of Europe’s stand-out performers this campaign after enduring an incredible rise after leaving Manchester City’s youth academy for first-team football Dortmund in 2017.

The young English winger has an impressive 33 goal contributions in just 25 domestic starts for the popular Black and Yellows side.

The youngster’s consistent form has seen him become a number one target for United who are believed to be looking to add depth to their front-line.

However, according to IB Times, United may be forced beyond this summer’s transfer window after it is rumoured that Dortmund are demanding a fee in excessive of £105m.

United are believed to be the only club giving Sancho serious consideration, however, Dortmund are remaining firm in their valuation which, should it materialise would be a British record.

Contrary to IB Times’ latest report, it would not be unreasonable to assume that this window is actually the best oppotunity United will get to sign their number one target.

With Sancho’s contract at Dortmund set to expire in 2022 his price will only decrease this time next year which could open the door for other suitors who boast a more modest budget.

United know what they need to do in order to secure Sancho, it just comes down to whether or not Executive Vice-Chairman Ed Woodward is willing to add that many zeros on The Glazers’ cheque to Dortmund.
