BBC journalist provides update on Manchester United’s transfer pursuit of Jadon Sancho

Manchester United are yet to make an official bid for Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho, according to reputable BBC Sport journalist Simon Stone.

BBC Sport have previously reported that Sancho has been identified as a ‘major target’ for United this summer, and speculation is already rife with the transfer window just a day old.

United fans on social media were alerted on Monday when German publication BILD claimed a bid in the region of £90m had been rejected by Dortmund for the England international.

But Stone has dismissed these reports, suggesting United’s financial issues have not suddenly been resolved after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side secured a place in the Champions League next season.

Sancho is one of the most exciting young attackers in European football and fans are already anticipating his signature with United’s interest in the player now widely documented.

We expect Solskjaer to prioritise a move for Sancho this summer, though a switch will not be made easy by Dortmund who we expect to remain resolute on their asking price for their most prized asset.

The 20-year-old scored 17 goals and laid on a further 16 assists in a terrific Bundesliga campaign and would surely take United’s attack to the next level.
