Confirmed Man Utd XI to face Crystal Palace: Fosu-Mensah and Greenwood start

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has named his Manchester United starting XI to face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park this evening.

United suffered a setback due to Michael Obafemi’s gut-wrenching 96th minute equaliser for Southampton on Monday and must get back to winning ways if they are to maintain hopes of a top four finish.

While Monday’s result prompted frustration within the fanbase, there is still plenty of reason for optimism with the unbeaten run extended to 18 games in all competitions.

Unsurprisingly, Solskjaer has not named the same starting XI for a sixth consecutive league game, instead choosing to make two changes for tonight’s clash.

Mason Greenwood picked up a knock after a late challenge from Saints midfielder Oriel Romeu on Monday but has recovered in time to start.

There was plenty of concern in the left-back position heading into tonight’s game with preferred options Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams both injury doubts.

And Solskjaer has surprisingly opted to start Timothy Fosu-Mensah at left-back with neither of the first choice options making the bench.

Scott McTominay is also given a chance to start in the double midfield pivot with Nemanja Matic rested ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea.

Bruno Fernandes retains his place in midfield, highlighting just how important he is to this United side with some suggesting he needed a rest.

Anthony Martial retains his place up front after two excellent goal contributions to claw United back into the game against Southampton.
